This publication is my tribute to a great artist, a visionary who revealed beauty in the most subtle, almost indescribable nuances of thought, color, and light. It showcases the young artist’s unsurpassed paradigm of art: talent and fascinating alchemy. Recognized as a genius during his lifetime, he remains so through the centuries. The monograph results from individual exploration and research aimed at understanding the artistry of Old Masters’ painting. It also emerges from transdisciplinary research and experiments with the alchemy of painting. Additionally, it contributes to the sum of experiences, knowledge, and achievements of European painting, combining artistic, scientific, and conservation aspects. I hope this publication will inspire the search for and experience of “quanta of beauty,” as well as the cosmic dimension of Rafael Santi’s works, who was called a divine artist during his lifetime.
The monograph – Rafael Santi. Reconstructions and Research, prepared for publication by ArtScience Publishing – is a truly exceptional work. This book represents over 20 years of Dr. Łukasz Nawrocki’s individual technological-conservation research and artistic practice. The volume contains 4 parts, nearly 300 pages of scholarly text, comparative analyses, formulations, and the developmental stages of three reconstructions of the brilliant master from Urbino’s works. The book is richly enhanced with over 270 color illustrations, presented in album format, and stands as the first and only publication of its kind about Rafael in the world. Its innovation lies in applying reverse technology as a transdisciplinary comparative method, utilizing the author’s latest optical and physicochemical research results, while incorporating selected findings from European and American museums. The publication has been peer-reviewed by Professor Iwona Szmelter and Professor Krzysztof Rozpondek. In 2024, the monograph was recognized in the Competition of the General Conservator of Monuments and the Association of Conservators of Monuments. The book serves not only as reading for specialists but also as an inspiring narrative for art enthusiasts eager to explore the mysteries of Renaissance painting. Beautiful illustrations and a clear writing style make it a unique guide to the world of the master from Urbino. The book can be purchased directly from the author.
